Our Partnership with the Woodland Trust

In July 2023, we started working with the Woodland Trust.

As one of the leading providers of temporary car, van and motorhome insurance in the UK, we wanted to recognise the impact of our industry and make a positive contribution and commitment to protect the environment.

Why the Woodland Trust?

The UK is one of the least wooded countries in Europe, with growing threats to our native woodland and wildlife. We share the Woodland Trust’s belief in the positive influence nature can have on our health, wellbeing and communities.

By partnering with the Woodland Trust, we support their work to create, protect and restore woods and trees across the UK. Our support is helping to drive nature’s recovery, providing wide-scale benefits for people and wildlife.

Who are the Woodland Trust?

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity. They’ve been championing woods and trees for over 50 years so that wildlife and people can thrive. They have more than 1,000 free to visit woodlands in their care, covering a total of 28,000 hectares, with sites across the UK.

Their vision is a world where woods and trees thrive for people and nature. With over 55 million trees planted since 1972 their contribution to our communities is invaluable.

Our partnership

Combating climate change

Through our partnership, we support the Woodland Trust in their mission to plant millions of trees across the country each year. Each tree planted grows into a vital carbon store. The Woodland Trust also looks after the existing woodland on their estate across the UK. These woodlands absorb millions of tonnes of carbon each year. That volume is set to triple over the next century too, as ancient woods continue to soak up and store an extra 1.7m tonnes of carbon each year.

Improving health and wellbeing

It is important to us to work with the Woodland Trust so that everybody can experience the benefits of nature. Woods and trees are great for our health so we encourage our employees and customers to spend time in nature and the woodlands around us.

Boosting biodiversity

The Woodland Trust works with its members, supporters, volunteers and partners to protect precious wildlife habitats throughout the UK and plant the trees needed to create new homes for our wildlife. We’re supporting the Woodland Trust in creating landscapes that benefit all sorts of different animals from shade-loving plants to nesting birds.

Himalayan Balsam Bashing

On 12th June 2024 members of the Dayinsure team made their way to Smithills Estate in Bolton to support the Woodland Trust in some Himalayan Balsam removal on the site.

Find out more about our day out learning about the Woodland Trust’s largest site in England and helping to remove the invasive balsam from the estate here.
